D. Information/Discussion

   · Summer Training- Officer training June 13-14

Leaders Training at Wigwam in July-contact Rhonda if you are interested. SPARKS for new members and Emerging Leaders for new AR’s who are thinking about running for executive board position in the near future. Good training and lot’s of fun.

   · Delegate Assembly Report-

George found interesting a motion from Roosevelt district that asked us to ask Gov. Napolitano to veto a bill that she still signed that takes away local control of schools. Implications for Roosevelt may include teachers being let go regardless off continuing status, principals and administrators being let go and taken over by the Department of Ed. The bill was specifically for Roosevelt district, but certainly opens the door for it to happen to others.

Forward any stories from DA to Rhonda this week to include in newsletter.

· Legislative Update- Budget talks are ongoing in the legislature.

· Committees-

· GREAT TEAM (political action) Carol and John Keepers have been our representatives. Carol is interested in co-chairing to split up responsibilities.

· We are in need of a Membership Committee Chair. (Thank you Kathryn and Dolly)

· Advocacy Committee - Project Excell cadre - Carol, Hank, Nina.

· Effective Teaching Conference (district new hire training)

We will be doing breakfast each day, they are doing 3 half days in the mornings. We’ll need people on the 30th for breakfast in the am, July 31 is our presentation during breakfast, and the 1st we’ll be present again in the am. We need people to sign up for one or more day. It’s very important to have a large presence on the 31st. AR’s should also think about planning some time with new hires on the day that their principal meets with them. Please let Rhonda know if you can help on either or all of the days. Important to check your email during the summer. (You can access your school email through the Amphi.com website.
